Transbaikalia Evenk or Buryat horse-headed staff

The inclusion of such staves (they are used by pairs) in the shaman's paraphernalia has been borrowed by some Evenk groups from the Buryat. These Evenk shamans use them in place of the drum in some very specific parts of their rituals, showing both that the drum is also a mount, and that it's much more than a mount. 89,5 cm MusÈe du Quai Branly / Museum d'Histoire Naturelle - deposit of the MusÈe de l'Homme.
